Weighing in at 21.5 lbs and 28.5 long. :)

Anyone know if goat's milk is easier tolerated by infants than cow's milk or soy milk?
I do know that when our family needed to bottle-feed newborn, abandoned, kittens the humane society told us that cows milk would eventually kill them, and that if we could not afford the "kitty formula" to use goats milk.

There were five kittens, all are alive and well, and just turned one year old.Yes it is much easier tolerated, because it is much more similar to human milk than cows milk is. It will be almost like she is still nursing. My nephew used to get ear infections when he drank cow's milk, but has never had a problem with goat's milk.as a child i had an allergy to milk and was fed goats milk and i turned out o.k.the alllergy is to teh milk protein and the protein molecules are different in the two milksas a child i had many problems with cows milk so my parents milked our goat i drank that never a problem againIt sounds like a lactose intolerance. Lactose is in Goats milk - so not likely to work. But if you do try it - please do it in a very small quantity. I've never heard of Neocate. But it's probably the enzyme lactase - that the body uses to digest lactose. Lots of lactase supplements are taken and they don't really work. a study was done scientifically here in England in 2003 and they proved useless. the lactose - because it isn't digested goes into the large bowel and ferments causing gas - mostly hydrogen. If your grand-daughter was older they would ask her to blow in to a breathalyser type machine after ingesting lactose to detect hydrogen in her breath. That's one way of diagnosing a lactose intolerance. More rarely, children can be allergic to the protein in milk. Watch and see if your daughter is effected by other sugars (lactose is milk sugar) - that can indicate a problem with her pancreas - and that can be more serious. She wouldn't digest any sugar properly then. Maybe not other things either like fat and protein. The pancreas is a complex organ - it produces enzymes to help us digest our food, insulin to regulate blood sugar and hormones. A specialist at hospital - a paediatrician is the person to check her out and find out what is happening. Good luck to her.
