My 17 month old son possible enzyme deficiency. HELP!?
Could u expand EE?HI Friend
it is big problem for your son.
you must eat together
it is very effective for your son
Thank youThis is very stressful. You just have to keep going back to specialists in the Children's Hospital to get it right. I doubt there would be something they had missed. I wouldn't run to an alternative medical facility with their dubious research. They will check his digestive tract and come up with some response and solve this. If ever it appears he is in an emergency state, take him to the hospital. They will do the research. If this is very rare, it is possible that only some countries do research in it. For example, someone I know has a rare neurological condition and is being studied in Italy for free as they are researching her annual progress. Keep checking for support groups. My sister had a rare condition and in the most frustrating of situations checked many doctors, feared the water, feared the ground upon which she lived, the air she breathed. Eventually, her condition was cured. My mother had H pylori ulcers, for which they had recently discovered a cure, an antibiotic, yet she had suffered for years without knowing what was wrong. Somewhere, will be the answer for your poor little boy, I hope it will be soon. Both laryngomalacia and gastro-oesophageal reflux are common in small babies and in the vast majority of cases the condition resolves with time as the child grows and matures, leaving no lasting problems.

Food protein induced enterocolitis syndrome, or FPIES, is a disease of infants and young children that mimics food allergies.

It's not clear what causes EE, although this disease may be related to other allergic diseases, particularly asthma. Recently, there have been studies showing an association between food and environmental allergies and EE.

Lactose intolerance; this generally develops later in life but can present in young patients in severe cases. This is due to an enzyme deficiency (lactase) and not allergy. It occurs in many non-Western people.

Lactase deficiency may occur because of a congenital absence (absent from birth) of lactase due to a mutation in the gene that is responsible for producing lactase. This is a very rare cause of lactase deficiency, and the symptoms of this type of lactase deficiency begin shortly after birth.
In UK the test is...
"lactose hydrogen breath test
Values between 10 and 20 parts per million (ppm) may be indeterminate unless accompanied by symptoms.

Non-invasive, easy-to-perform, with high sensitivity and specificity.

Next option - a blood test. Also studying the faeces.
