What can working up a real good sweat then drink ice cold water do to your metabolism?
Metabolism doesn't really play much of a part in cooling your body down, metabolisms main responsibility is converting the food you eat into energy for your body to use. Your body has a natural cooling system, which is why you sweat which is also why you have to stay well hydrated so your bodies natural cooling system can function. Basically it goes like this
Water (H20) -> Sweat = Good!
No Water -> No Sweat = Dehydration/Heat stroke..
However, the more you cool your body down after a workout the better, your body can only work so fast and any way you can help it, great. Whether that's drinking a cold glass of water, cold shower, water over your head or jumping in a pool. The most important thing though is to stay hydrated.
So no, drinking a cold glass of water after working up a sweat won't throw off your performance.
However, as far as your metabolism works, keep it working by eating. The only thing that you can really do to control your metabolism is eat. Think of your metabolism as a car motor, it'll keep running and running as long as it has fuel and oil to burn (The fuel = food and what it burns = fat).
The best way to do this is by eating 5 to 6 meals a day so your metabolism never gets a chance to slow down, except for when it naturally does at night time. But, do this by eating at least 3 meals a day and 3 snacks a day in between those meals, that's ideal.
Hope this helps, good luck!
