This song is a very early recording for Kansas and is one my favorites. There are instrumental parts, but for you non Kansas fans...listen to it with an open mind it's one of the best arrangements ever recorded. Al Gore's movie was fantastic and a friend sparked a thought and this is the final production of my vision of what Kerry Livgren had in mind when he wrote this song. This was finished late a night one night when being able to sleep. So part of the production is a no sleep vision of the song.

I would say that it has everything to do with the person overall but, most definetly alittle of both.nuture vs nature..heres the deal....all behavior and experience is basically a chemical and electrical reaction..this info and the neural architecture built in yer brain establishes memory and personality..so our environment has huge influence but ultimately our dna is going to really determine how we perceive the universe and the trip we call lifeI am definately not a people pleaser but like when people please me. It just makes someone look stuck up or look like they try too hard.both it could be by nature but people that do it around you influence you to do it also.for me its by nature, and it sucksIt is both.

In my biology and psych classes, my profs often remind us that nothing is as simple as one or the other. Yes, there are genetic factors and yes, there are environmental factors. Both influence how you turn out.

In family studies of schizophrenia (oh spelling error), if an aunt or uncle had it, a child had a 30% chance of developing it. If the child's sibling developed it, the child had a 50% chance that they would develop it as well. However, if the child's identical twin had developed it, the child had a 74% chance of developing it. If you remember from biology....aunts and uncles are less genetically close as siblings are...and siblings are less genetically close as identical twins (since id twins have the exact genetic make up). But...if the condition were entirely genetics, if one identical twin has it, the other one would have to have it as well. Identical twins who were seperated...if one had it, the other had a 50-60% chance of developing it, which shows that environment definately plays a role.

The same goes for most other traits.Partly by nature and Partly learned. To develop the trait takes practice, focus, and perserverance. There may be other traits that are more important to you, so consider whether it is worth the effort.i remember as a very young boy sitting alone thinking that i just want to help people. over the 50 yrs that followed i guess i've ailienated and given grief to as many people as i may have helped [regrettabley[sp]. so i gotta say the "desire" is inbread... but you got to work at it. part of the chalange for me is i'm so afraid of having people "walkover" me that sometimes i think i'd rather look like an "a" hole than a soft touch.... i'm working on it
