if a 4 week old infant had sustained a spiral fracture what treatment?
If this child has not been in a car accident or anything (brittle bone disease, etc.), then it means that the child has more than likely received abuse & whoever did it should be arrested. Spiral fractures in a baby of that age are not common at all. It would occur if someone rung the arm like ringing out a rag. Do you realize how hard it is to break a baby bone? It's very difficult because the bone is not calcified in a child of that age. It's more like cartilage & cartilage is very flexible. I can't imagine anyone treating a 4 week old like that, but someone has & an investigation needs to be done. If I were treating this child, I'd call human & family services immediately.

There would be pain medication delivered, but the dosage & kind would be up to a Dr. as well as determination as to whether the arm should be bandaged or plastered. The facft that you ask this rather than obtaining treatment suggests either you are providing less than adequate info to answer, or you are or are associated with someone that should be in jail a long, long time.

The evidence will remin for years, and, By God, there are other fractures visible, healed or unhealed I hope the abuser gets life in prison.
