One year old baby with hives?
Seems like you're doing all you can do for now. From personal experience, it takes at least a week or two for the Zyrtec to get into her system and start working properly. There should be some instructions from the pharmacy that tells the contradictions and warnings of using this product. Read the information pamphlet because sometimes symptoms do become a little worse before they get better, but up until you get the chance to see your allergist, follow doctor's orders by giving her the Zyrtec as prescribed.
There are a few things you can do to soothe her, though. Have her take a cool or tepid bath at least twice daily before nap time or bedtime. Hives can also be caused by the heat, so dress her in loose, cool lightweight fabrics, and keep her out of the sun in the meantime. Change clothes where milk or other daily baby spit-ups occur immediately. Do not doubt that your doctor did give the least intrusive remedy without knowing exactly what could be wrong. Stay calm and wait your visit to the allergist. Best wishes on the health of your baby.
