which supplement should i take?
Chiropractors must not prescribe medicine however in this case he just suggest. For the safest way to answer your question I think the best person you can ask is your doctor. You asked one of the worse people for advice when it comes to bodybuilding and I'm happy you came on here. Your chiropractor probably knows just about nothing about bodybuilding. Just look at his physique. His results (his physique, his body, his muscles) I'm sure will tell you he knows nothing. Whenever you want some advice, ask someone who has results in that area. And your chiropractor is the wrong person and I will explain to you exactly why.
First, he probably got paid to promote the product to you. If it was ANY good, people would be using it and you would see a ton of reviews, wouldn't you? Metagenics (my friend's pharmacy sells it) it just an ordinary product that is way overpriced. If you want a bodybuilding product, buy it from a company that makes bodybuilding product and has experience making bodybuilding products, metagenics does not.
Your chiropractor doesn't know about creatine either, its good, but its different than protein. It doesn't replace it, it should be used in addition to it. So use it if you would like, it will give you positive results.
Not about the product you asked about and why its no good:
- It has 490 calories and only provides 24 grams of protein? 24 grams of protein is not nearly enough for what you need after a workout. You need about 40 grams.
- 96 grams of carbs, thats WAY too much. Are you kidding me? So if you have 2 servings, thats almost 200 grams of carbs. You need carbs after a workout, but not that much.
- Complex carbs after a workout? And metagenics claims to know about bodybuilding products? YOU NEED SIMPLE CARBS AFTER A WORKOUT, not complex carbs, metagenics doesn't know what they are talking about. And yes it has some simple carbs, but why complex carbs also?
- At 3 scoops a serving, there aren't very many servings. Your probably paying $ 3-5 a use. You really want to pay that much if you workout 3-5 days a week? Steroids cost less than that.
- I haven't compared the ratios of amino acids, but I can bet they aren't the same as bodybuilding shakes. So they probably have that wrong.
If you want a natural protein shake, try one of these, I haven't tried them because I don't take the natural ones so I can't tell you how they taste, but I am sure they taste better than the metagenics junk:
