Have you considered going to school? Learning a trade?You don't say how old you are now.
You don't say why you had this terribly long hospitalization.
You don't tell us your diagnosis.
But from what you describe, you must be stabilized on medication now and functioning well.
I'll also assume that you are a mentally disabled adult who is on Social Security Disability.
And so, as a disabled person, you should know that there are many opportunities open for you as far as education goes. You may be entitled to many grants to pay for your education or to learn a trade.
And so, look in the telephone book for the phone number of your local community college and call the admissions office and talk to someone about your opportunities and about public transportation to the facility.
Stay on your medication and take it as prescribed to stay out of the hospital!
I wish you all the best.Do you have a social worker and a therapist? In my state of MN, a social worker will come to your home and help with these kinds of issues and help you access vocational programs if appropriate. Also, NAMI can be a resource. You can work part time on SSI or SSDI but the social worker can help with paperwork for this. Employment may not be an option for you (I can't work) so you can look for consumer run groups like drop in centers so you can make some friends.That's what you get for sleeping with the enemy
