is elecare formula really helpful in milk allergic babies?
We are dealing with the same issue. First I tried cutting out dairy and soy from my diet which worked wonders for 3 weeks. I find that soy is in nearly everything and when I would accidentally eat something laced with either protein, she would have a violent reaction (vomiting, diarreah, diaper rash, congestion and wheeziness) We tried Similac Alimentum and it seemed to do the trick for about a week, but then all the same symtems returned but even worse (now bloated, gassy and just plain miserable). We just today switched to Elecare by advice from our doc. I hope to god it helps...we are at wits end and the baby is so unhappy. It will be well worth the $ $ if it works!follow up with the allergist for what will work best for your baby. be sure to have the epi-pen and liquid benedryl handy at all times. get yourself CPR certified.I don't know what elecare formula is. But I put my son on Nutramigen made by Enfamil. Come to find out later, he's allergic to milk & has a soy sensitivity. Taking him completely off dairy did help with the eczema, but did not take it away. He still has flare ups as I've been told everyone with eczema does from time to time.
