Spectrum
A neurologist's view of our response to trauma. Our experiences of trauma sow the seeds of many persistent and misunderstood medical problems such as chronic fatigue syndrome and various maladies of the immune system. Because of our inadequate understanding of the relationship of mind and body in processing these traumas, many of us suffer needlessly from our exposure to life's traumas. Robert Scaer offers hope to those who wish to transform trauma and better understand their lives.

What can you tell me about PDD and high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders?
I can tell you that you need to research it on your own. Look into books.
http://www.amazon.com/Parents-Asperger-Syndrome-High-Functioning-Autism/dp/1572305312/ref=sip_rech_dp_7My children use to have autism. Come to find out that its caused by toxins and pathogens. You can learn all about it by going to Yahoo Groups on biomedical treatments, and going to websites that also know this.PDD is the general category of these disorders, then there are five subcategories-
Autism
Asperger's Syndrome
PDD-NOS (not otherwise specified)
Rett Syndrome
CDD (Childhood Disintegrative Disorder)
the last two are pretty rare
The difference between High Functioning Autism and Asperger's is this -
with Asperger's, there is no significant language delay.
Hope this helps. There is no cure bio medical or other wise right now. My son was first diagnosed with PDD-NOS as well and was then given the aspergers diagnosis because he is so high functioning in that his speech and gross motor skills are good. His main disability would be social aspect. He does not engage like other kids do and should. Aspergers is the term for high functioning autism technically speaking. Here are some site in my sources for you to look at. Educating yourself is key to you and your child's future.
